18530, CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON NOVEMBER 4 , 1986 RELATING TO ISSUANCE
OF BONDS FOR ACQUISITION OF BEACHFRONT
PROPERTY FOR THE NORTH SHORE OPEN SPACE PARK
EXTENSION/SAVE OUR COAST PROJECT IN MIAMI
BEACH, SO AS TO CHANGE THE DATE OF THE SPECIAL
ELECTION FROM NOVEMBER 4, 1986 TO
SEPTEMBER 30, 1986, AND SO AS TO REDESIGNATE
THE BALLOT QUESTION FROM NUMBER 2 TO NUMBER 1,
AND ALSO AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 86-18533
AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY CANVASSING BOARD TO
SERVE AS A CANVASSING BOARD FOR THE NOVEMBER
4, 1986 SPECIAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE COUNTY CANVASSING
BOARD TO ALSO SERVE AS A CANVASSING BOARD FOR
THE SEPTEMBER 30, 1986 ELECTION.
WHEREAS, on July 23 , 1986 , the City Commission of the
City of Miami Beach passed Resolution No. 36-18530 pertaining to
issuance of bonds for acquisition of beachfront property for the
North Shore Open Space Park Extension/Save Our Coast Project in
Miami Beach, and Resolution No. 86-18533 authorizing the County
Canvassing Board to serve as canvassing board for the November 4 ,
1986 Special Election of the City Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS , the Dade County Supervisor of Elections has
since advised the City Clerk of Miami Beach that limited space
will be available on the November ballot for the City ' s ballot
questions in light of the number of pages of the Votomatic booklet
required for State and County candidates, State Constitutional
amendments, and several amendments being contemplated by the Dade
County Board of Commissioners; and
WHEREAS , it would be in the best interest of the City to
consider placing the bond question regarding issuance of bonds for
acquisition of beachfront property for the North Shore Open Space
Park Extension/Save Our Coast Project in Miami Beach on the
September 30 , 1986 run-off primary ballot to assure its
presentation to the electorate; and
WHEREAS, it has been duly considered by the City
Commission of the City of Miami Beach that the best interest of
the Citizens of Miami Beach would be served by changing the date
for submission of the aforementioned ballot question from

November 4 , 1986 to September 30 , 1986 , thereby providing ample
time for the required notice of election to be given by the City
Clerk; and
WHEREAS, in light of the above, it is necessary to
redesignate the ballot question from number 2 to number 1; and
WHEREAS, the County Canvassing Board shall be charged
with the statutory responsibilities relating to the conduct of
elections on September 30 , 1986 and November 4 , 1986, and shall
act as canvassing board for the City of Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, that Resolution number 86-18530 , adopted
by the Miami Beach City Commission on July 23 , 1986, calling a
special election relating to issuance of bonds for acquisition of
beachfront property for the North Shore Open Space Park
Extension/Save Our Coast Project in Miami Beach, be and the same
is hereby amended to reflect the change of date of said special
election from November 4 , 1986 to September 30 , 1986 , and that its
ballot question designation is changed from number 2 to number 1,
and further that Resolution No. 86-18533 adopted by the Miami
Beach City Commission on July 23 , 1986 authorizing the County
Canvassing Board to serve as canvassing board for the special
election of the City of Miami Beach is amended so as to authorize
the County Canvassing Board to serve as canvassing board for both
the September 30, 1986 and November 4 , 1986 elections .
