RESOLUTION NO. 87-18753
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ENCOURAGING
METRO DADE COUNTY TO MOVE FORWARD WITH
IMPROVEMENTS TO THE ROADWAYS AND BRIDGES ON
THE VENETIAN CAUSEWAY; EXPRESSING OBJECTIONS
TO THE INCREASE IN THE TOLL FROM TWENTY-FIVE
CENTS TO THIRTY-FIVE CENTS , AND URGING THAT
SAME BE REDUCED TO FIFTEEN CENTS.
WHEREAS , Dade County recently increased the toll on the
Venetian Causeway from twenty-five (25) cents to thirty-five (35)
cents; and
WHEREAS , it is believed that said increase was
implemented for the purpose of maintaining roadways and bridges in
the County; and
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach recognizes that such
maintenance and upkeep is imperative for purposes of safety on
County roads; and
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach vigorously encourages
Dade County to move forward with this essential program of
improving County roadways and bridges.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it urges Dade
County to vigorously initiate the maintenance and improvement of
roadways and bridges on the Venetian Causeway.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Commission
expresses its objection to the increase in tolls from twenty-five
cents to thirty-five cents and does request that said toll be
decreased to fifteen cents.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of February , 1987 .
