Gonzalez r~ City Manager ~ 0 NORTH BEACH ASTER PLAN COMMUNITY WORKSHOP 12/04/03 Subject: In the year 2000 the City Commission authorized the Planning Department to hire a consultant, Chesapeake Group, to conduct an economic analysis of the potential for development in North Beach. The results of the study included an implementation strategy for revitalization based on the findings of the analysis. Several community workshops were held where the results of the study were discussed and input from planning and urban design professionals, property owners, business owners and residents was obtained. This input was incorporated into a strategic plan which was endorsed by the Mayor and Commission in February 2001. The Planning Department staff in collaboration with the North Beach Development Corporation (NBDC) continued to work on a Master Plan for the Community of North Beach based on the strategic plan. We will be checking back with the public to validate the concepts and strategies that were endorsed at the beginning of this process and were incorporated into the document. We will present the community with alternatives for important elements of the Plan before bringing it to you for approval. The workshop, co-sponsored by NBDC, has been scheduled for: Thursday, December 4, 2003 6:30 - 8:30 PM at the Radisson Deauville. We will be discussing the following: 1.
