Charter Communication's government-access Cable Channel 20 is an important link between the Miami Beach govemment and the Miami Beach community. The Administration presently transmits the following meetings ~live": Commission, Histodc Preservation Board, Board of Adjustment, General Obligation Bond Oversight Committee, Design Review Board, and Planning Board and replays them regularly. The schedule is flexible due to holidays and special meetings. Live meetings pre-empt previously scheduled replay schedule. A television programming schedule for upcoming "live" and replayed meetings is posted on Channel 20's bulletin board. It is our intension to have a mccting transmitted everyday. The electronic bulletin board and/or other specialized programming are transmitted at ail other times. Miscellaneous tapes and public service announcements (PSAs) are also played at various times between meetings. PSAs and informational videos from outside sources such as DERM, Social Security Administration, National Fire Academy and other sources are being sought to fill the programming schedule. Music Choice, a Charter Communications 30-channel premium music service, provides the background sound at no charge to the City, and the selections vary. As an additional source of information to the public, the same television programming is web-streamed on the City's website at www.miamibeachfl..qov. We are pleased to announce that our new Digital Disk Recording (DDR) equipment is currently being tested. The DDR will give us more reliable playback ability by reducing our reliance on eight VCRs. Additionally, new scheduling software to be released in January will make programming easier and mere accurate. We are also very proud of our ability to send our cable television viewers a Spanish translation of our Commission meetings. A Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) signal is transmitted during the live production that can be seen by pressing the SAP button on a SAP-ready TV remote control. Spanish subtitles are also included on the replays of the Commission meetings. The Administration is constantly working to improve our quality and provide informational programming to our residential and business community.
