SUBJECT: Maritime Efforts
In reference to the May 12, 2021 Commission Item, R9P, please review the below
information as it pertains to our Maritime Enforcement efforts with illegal charters and
corresponding noise issues associated with them.
Marine Patrol officers issued 240 citations to illegal charters, between January to April
2021. The majority of these citations were for safety equipment and COVID 19
Emergency Order violations.
Our Marine Patrol conducted joint operations with, and without, the United States Coast
Guard (USCG) during the Spring Break period and in conjunction with our COVID19
restrictions. The USCG also issued approximately 27 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations
violations during this time.
In addition, and from February 15, 2021 to May 10, 2021, Miami Beach Code Compliance
issued a total of 404 violations (196 Business on Public Property and 208 Business Tax
Receipts) to supplement this effort.
