SUBJECT: Black Affairs Advisory Committee Motions
The purpose of this letter to the Mayor and Commission is to provide an update regarding
a motion made during the June 15, 2021 Black Affairs Advisory Committee ("BAAC")
meeting:
Motion: The Black Affairs Advisory Committee wholly supports the following
recommendations, made by Goodwill Ambassadors, on ways to improve the Goodwill
Ambassadors program, which will have a direct impact on Spring Break and Memorial
Day Weekend:
•On-going and additional training, including scenario based training with police
officers;
•Programming and more activations that give tourist, visitors and residents
something to do;
•More signage on the high impact weekends along the beach entrances, Ocean
Drive, municipal parking garages and other areas within the Art Deco Cultural
District;
•Expand on messaging to reach a younger audience, months prior to Spring
Break and Memorial Day Weekend; and
•Additional compensation in time or pay for our Goodwill Ambassadors.
Motion made by Valerie Crawford. Motion seconded by: Troy Wright. Motion was
passed unanimously. Members present for the motion: Glendon Hall, Gregory Branch,
Bibi Andrade, Diane Connolly Graham, Valerie Crawford, Scherazade Daruvalla King,
Nicole Henry, Henry Williams and Troy Wright.
