BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING KEY BISCAYNE'S SUPPORT FOR
THE HEROIC RESISTANCE EFFORTS AGAINST THE CUBAN
COMMUNIST REGIME; PROVIDING FOR TRANSMITTAL; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
The Village of Key Biscayne Clerk has requested that a copy of this resolution be provided to the
Miami Beach Mayor and Commissioners.

RESOLUTION NO. 2021 -36
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING
KEY BISCAYNE'S SUPPORT FOR THE HEROIC
RESISTANCE EFFORTS AGAINST THE CUBAN
COMMUNIST REGIME; PROVIDING FOR
TRANSMITTAL; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, for sixty years , the Cuban people have suffered under the repression of its
people by the corrupt Communist government; and
WHEREAS, the people of Cuba have been deprived of all democratic norms ,
and are often jailed and brutalized in order for the regime to "put down" any attempt that
speaks for a measure of the freedom and justice enjoyed by thos e of a democratic and open
society ; and
WHEREAS, in recent weeks, the world has learned of the bravery of the multitude of the
people of Cuba who have taken to the streets in the largest demonstration of discontent in th e
Island's recent sixty -year history; and
WHEREAS, in a strong show of support for the Cuban people trying to throw off the yoke
of suppression, the people of all nationalities and persuasion in Miami -Dade County and
elsewhere throughout the United States have marched and rallied for the Cuban people and show
that the struggle for freedom is a basic right for all ; and
WHEREAS, it is urged that the United States government seek measures to help
provide humanitarian aide to the Island in this time of unprecedented action by the Cuban people.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE OF KEY
BISCAYNE VILLAGE COUNCIL AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Recitals. That each of the above-stated recitals are hereby adopted ,
confinned , and incorporated herein .

Section 2. Support. The Village Council expresses its unwavering support for the
heroic dissidents who have risen in protest of the brutal communist dictatorship that has ruled the
Island for the past six decades.
Section 3. Transmittal. The Village Clerk is directed to transmit a true copy of this
Resolution to the President of the United States, the United States Secretary of State, the National
Security Council, the Governor of Florida, the United States Congressional representatives from
Florida, the United States Senators from Florida, the National League of Cities, the Chairman of
the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, the Chairman of the United States
House Committee on Foreign Relations, the United States House of Representatives Minority
Leader, the United States House of Representatives Majority Leader, the United States Senate
Majority Leader and the United States Senate Minority Leader, the Florida Speaker of the House
of Representatives, the Florida President of the Senate, the Florida League of Cities and the
Miami-Dade County League of Cities.
Section 4. Effective Date. That this Resolution shall be effective immediately upon
adoption.
