SUBJECT: G.O. Bond Oversight Committee Motion
Fire Station No. 1 Project
The purpose of this Letter to the Commission ("L TC") is to provide an update regarding a motion
made during the September 23 , 2021 G.O. Bond Oversight Committee meeting.
Voting Members present: Karen Rivo (Chair), Jason Green (Vice-Chair), Scott Needelman,
Jack Glottman, Francisco Diez-Rivas, Laura Veitia, Carmen Browne.
Background: Staff presented a video and power point presentation showing the future design
of Fire Station No. 1 at the site of the South Shore Community Center on 833 6th Street. A 20-
minute presentation from staff and the City 's design consultant was followed by 1 O minutes of
public comment and 15 minutes of discussion by the G.O. Bond Committee Members. Residents
from the Flamingo Park neighborhood addressed the Committee during public comment. At the
end of the discussion the Committee made the following motion:
MOTION
The Committee supports the design of Fire Station 1 as presented, and recommends it
move forward as quickly as possible due to the poor condition of the existing fire station
and the importance and urgency of the project to the South Beach area.

Motion passed unanimously. (7-0)
