SUBJECT: HISPANIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MOTION
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to notify the Mayor and City
Commission of a motion made and passed by the Hispanic Affairs Committee
during the September 7, 2021 Hybrid (phone and in person) Board Meeting.
Members Present in person: Chair Gabriel Paez, Vice Chair Grace Calvani,
Rosary Plana Falero, Liliana Martinez and Carmen Datorre
Members present by phone: Angel Triana and Allyson Fonte
Members Absent: None
Staff Present: Leonor Hernandez, Committee Liaison
Members of the Public: Cindy Esquivel and Elba Machado
MOTION:
To recommend to the Mayor and Commissioners of the City of Miami Beach to
accept the gift of a monument/bust of Benito Juarez from the Consulate General
of Mexico in Miami to be erected/placed at Collins Park and to initiate all actions
required to accept the gift and place the monument/bust at that location. Chair
Gabriel Paez to coordinate the effort with the Consulate General of Mexico as
needed.
