Subject: City of Miami Beach Information Sessions for Prekindergarten Pilot Program Interested
Families 2022-23
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to update you on the status of the City of Miami Beach's
Prekindergarten (PreK) Pilot Program for Miami Beach residents for the 2022-2023 school year,
approved at the May 12, 2021 Commission meeting. The Prekindergarten Pilot Program expands
hourly access to high quality PreK providers by providing up to $2,700 to eligible Miami Beach
families. The program is well underway for the 2021-22 school year, with 78 PreK youth participating.
The administration has scheduled a series of informational sessions for interested PreK families for
the 2022-23 school year via Zoom on the following dates and times:
Wednesday, October 20 at 11 am (English) and 12 pm (Spanish)
Thursday, October 21 at 6 pm (English) and 7 pm (Spanish)
Friday, October 22 at 11 am (English) and 12 pm (Spanish)

Family applications may be submitted on the City's website at www.miamibeachfl.gov/prek , which
provides an overview of the program and eligibility criteria . The deadline for application submission is
December 8, 2021. A computerized lottery process to be held on December 9, 2021 will establish a
numerical order of service until all funds are exhausted. Results from the lottery will be posted on the
City's website including name, confirmation number, and lottery number. Staff from the Office of
Organizational Development Performance Initiatives (Education) will contact family applicants in the
order of selection to determine eligibility.
The administration has already held several informational sessions for interested PreK providers.
Providers must submit an application to be a PreK option for families.
