Hudak, City Managö,'('' October 15, 2021 " SUBJECT.SPECIAL EVENTS AND ELECTION ACTIVITIES The purpose of this Letter to the Commission is to inform the Mayor and City Commission of how the Administration is handling special events and election activities in the Civic Center and Convention Center campus, including City Hall, Pride Park, Collins Canal Park, Botanical Garden and Holocaust Museum. The City of Miami Beach and the Miami-Dade County Department of Elections are hosting early voting in the First Floor Conference Room of City Hall Monday, October 18 to Sunday, October 31, 2021, from 7 a.m. to 7p.m. On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from 7a.m. to 7 p.m., City Hall and the Botanical Garden will serve as precincts for the City's General and Special Elections. If necessary, City Hall and the Botanical Garden will also serve as precincts on November 16, 2021, from 7 a.m. to 7p.m. for the City's Run-Off Election. During this election period, voters have access to one (1) hour of free parking in the Botanical Garden and City Hall Garage. Election staff for City Hall and the Botanical Garden have parking access to City Hall Garage. Concurrently, the Miami Beach Convention Center ("MBCC") will host the Miami International Auto Show ("Auto Show"), which begins loading into the MBCC on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, and is open to the public from October 16-24, 2021. The Auto Show's "Camp Jeep," a jeep off-road course, will take place in Municipal Lot P-29, at Convention Center Drive and 17" Street. The Camp Jeep load-in and activation will not interfere with access to City Hall, entrances, parking garages, or sidewalks. / In addition, Design Miami, a large Art Basel Miami Beach associated event, will begin loading into Pride Park on Thursday, October 21, 2021, and will open to the public on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Design Miami load-in activities will utilize both 18" and 19" Streets, between Convention Center Drive and Meridian Avenue, but will have minimal impact on voter access to election activities. The City, MBCC, and City Clerk staff have collectively worked to ensure easy access for all voters, election staff, and guests of the cultural institutions and community. Signage is being prepared, parking accommodations and valet services are being provided, and Miami Beach Police Department will have a presence to ensure fluid pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Similarly , the City staff is working with Design Miami to minimize any 1 issues or concerns. Lastly, the MBCC team will be on-site to ensure the Auto Show, and other events during this period, will have minimal, to no, impact on residents and guests.
