SUBJECT: DEADLINES TO PLACE ITEMS ON THE 2022 AUGUST PRIMARY AND/OR NOVEMBER
GENERAL ELECTIONS BALLOTS
Should the City of Miami Beach wish to conduct a special election along with the Countywide 2022 Primary
and/or General Elections, the deadlines listed below must be followed to allow sufficient time for ballot
preparation and to meet State-mandated deadlines to mail vote-by-mail ballots to overseas voters.
Note that pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 100 .151, " ... the governing authority of a municipality shall
not call any special election until notice is given to the Supervisor of Elections and his (her) consent
obtained as to a date ... " Once approval is obtained from the Supervisor of Elections, the resolution to call a
special election must be passed to meet the deadlines listed below.

THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS COUNTYWIDE FOR CHARTER AMENDMENTS ELECTIONS OR ANY OTHER QUESTIONS
PRIMARY ELECTION No later than
August 23, 2022 Friday,May27,2022
GENERAL ELECTION No later than
November 8, 2022 Friday, July 29, 2022
