Resolution 2022-31982RESOLUTION NO. 2022-31982 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT AN IN-KIND DONATION FROM SWEAT440-1_001- SOBE, LLC FOR A THREE (3) MONTH MEMBERSHIP TO THEIR FITNESS FACILITY, HAVING A VALUE OF $447.00, TO BE USED.AS A PRIZE FOR THE CITY'S PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT CITYWIDE STEP CHALLENGE, TAKING PLACE JANUARY 10 — FEBRUARY 10, 2022. WHEREAS, the City's Parks and Recreation Department is producing a Citywide step challenge event (the "Event) from January 10 — February 10, 2022; and WHEREAS, Miami. Beach residents will be able to register for the challenge and track their steps via any step counting app, and registered participants of the Event can provide their final step count by emailing their results to stepchallengeru7.miamibeachfl.gov; and WHEREAS, the Administration has identified in kind donations from local businesses to be'given away as prizes to the participants with the highest number of steps in .the .given time frame; and WHEREAS, Sweat440-L001-SOBE, LLC, located at 1916 Bay Road, Miami Beach, FL, has provided an in-kind donation, consisting of a three (3) month unlimited membership to their fitness facility, having a value of $447.00, in exchange for relevant marketing and advertising recognition pertaining to the Event; and WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that the Mayor and City Commission approve this in-kind donation, to be utilized as a prize for the Event. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby approve and authorize the City Manager to accept an in-kind donation of a three (3) month membership from Sweat440-1_001-SOBE, LLC, having a total value of -$447.00, to be utilized as a prize for the City's Parks and Recreation Department Citywide Step Challenge, taking place from January 10 — February 10, 2022. BACKGROUND/HISTORY The City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation department will be producing a City -Wide Step Challenge from January 10 — February 10, 2022, as a way to promote fitness and being active across the City. The initiative asks residents of Miami Beach to register for the challenge and track their steps on any step counting app or device and email results to stepchallenge@miamibeachfl.gov. The top results will receive rewards such as the 3 -month membership to Sweat440-1_001-SOBE, LLC. Sweat440-1_001-SOBE, LLC has offered an in-kind donation consisting of a 3 month unlimited membership to their fitness facility located in Sunset Harbor, with a value of $447.00, in exchange for relevant marketing and advertising recognition pertaining to the Event; SUPPORTING SURVEY DATA N/A FINANCIAL INFORMATION The acceptance of this in-kind donation will allow Parks and Recreation to off -set a portion of the costs associated with prizing for the City -Wide Step Challenge.
