Resolution 2022-32098 RESOLUTION NO. 2022-32098 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A PRODUCT DONATION, FROM FIFTH GENERATION, INC., WITH AN APPROXIMATE VALUE OF $300.00, TO BE USED AS REFRESHMENTS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY DEPARTMENT'S "WE HEART BISCAYNE BAY" EVENT, WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE NI APRIL, 2022. WHEREAS, the City's Environment and Sustainability Department is producing a "We Heart Biscayne Bay" event(the "Event") in April 2022 in the City of Miami Beach; and WHEREAS, the event is meant to bring awareness to pet waste and its disastrous effects on Biscayne Bay when not properly disposed of; and WHEREAS, Miami Beach residents may, and are encouraged to attend the Event with their dogs; and WHEREAS, the Administration worked to source a company that could supply products to allow each attendee, who has been verified to be over the age of 21, with a complementary cocktail, should they be willing to "take the pledge," and sign up to become a responsible pet owner and pick up waste after their pet; and WHEREAS, Fifth Generation Inc., located at 161 Segovia Way, Jupiter, FL has generously provided a product donation, consisting of Tito's Vodka, having an approximate value of$300.00, to be utilized towards refreshments for the Event; and WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that the Mayor and City Commission approve and authorize the City to accept this in-kind donation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby approve and authorize the City Manager to accept a product donation from Fifth Generation, Inc., with an approximate value of$300.00, to be used as refreshments for the Environment and Sustainability Department's "We Heart Biscayne Bay" event, which will take place in April, 2022. n / PASSED and ADOPTED this ( day of 4prs 1 , 2022. RECOMMENDATION The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission approve the product donation from Fifth Generation Inc., in the amount of approximately $300.00, to be utilized as refreshments for the Environment and Sustainability Department's "We Heart Biscayne Bay" event. BACKGROUND/HISTORY As part of the Environment and Sustainability Department's efforts to educate the community on the top three polluters of Biscayne Bay, they will hold an event to kick off Earth Month, and bring awareness to water quality in Biscayne Bay. This will be the first of three events. The event is set to take place on April 2022 to coincide with Earth Month. Attendees will be asked to 'take the pledge' by acknowledging that they will be part of the solution to help keep Biscayne Bay clean. The product being donated is Tito's Vodka, and will be used so each attendee, who has age checked and verified as over the age of 21, can receive a complimentary cocktail, once they sign up to take the pledge.
