A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE
PUBLIC SAFETY AND NEIGHBORHOOD QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE AT
ITS MARCH 29, 2022 MEETING, AND AUTHORIZING THE PARKS AND
RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO PLACE A CAPITAL PROJECT REQUEST
IN THE CITY'S 5-YEAR PLAN FOR THE CREATION OF A WATER FEATURE
IN THE DOG PARK AREA WITHIN NORTH BEACH OCEANSIDE PARK.
WHEREAS, during the February 9, 2022 City Commission meeting, the City
Commission referred a discussion regarding the possibility of a dog water park and activation
area on the West Lots site to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee (the
"Committee") (Exhibit A); and
WHEREAS, during its March 29, 2022 meeting, the Committee discussed the possibility
of placing a dog water park and activation area on the West Lots site; and
WHEREAS, ultimately, the Committee decided that it would be a preferable option to
incorporate water features within the existing North Beach Oceanside Park fenced-in dog area,
and recommended the placement of a request in the capital project budget for the creation of a
water feature in the existing dog park area located within North Beach Oceanside Park;
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department will be placing a capital project
request in the 5-year plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission accept the recommendation of the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life
Committee meeting at its March 29, 2022 meeting, and authorize the Parks and Recreation
Department to place a capital project request in the City's 5-year plan for the creation of a water
feature in the dog park area within North Beach Oceanside Park.

RECOMMENDATION
Approve the recommendation from the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life
Committee meeting on March 29, 2022 placing a capital project request in the City's 5-year plan
for the creation of a water feature in the dog park area within North Beach Oceanside Park.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY . 6
During the February 9, 2022 City Commission meeting, Commission referred a discussion
regarding the possibility of a dog water park and activation area on the West Lots site to the
Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee (Exhibit A).
ANALYSIS
At the March 29, 2022 Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee meeting, the
possibility of placing a dog water park and activation area on the west lots site was discussed. It
was decided that it would be a preferable option to incorporate water features within the existing
North Beach Oceanside Park fenced-in dog areas. The Parks and Recreation.Department will
be placing a capital project request to be placed in the 5-year plan.

The Parks and Recreation Department will be placing a capital project request in the 5-year
capital plan with a placeholder amount of$95,500.
