Resolution 2022-32198 RESOLUTION NO. 2022-32198 RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK, WITHIN ONE (1) BUSINESS DAY FOLLOWING RECEIPT OF A RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY ANY REGISTERED NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION, TO TRANSMIT THE RESOLUTION TO THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION, CITY MANAGER, CITY ATTORNEY, AND INSPECTOR GENERAL VIA A LETTER TO COMMISSION, IN AN EFFORT TO PROMOTE GREATER AWARENESS OF ANY FORMAL POSITIONS ADOPTED BY NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS AND ADVANCE THE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION OBJECTIVES OF THE CITIZENS' BILL OF RIGHTS AND "RESIDENTS' RIGHT TO KNOW" ORDINANCE, AS SET FORTH IN SECTION 2-14 OF THE CITY CODE. WHEREAS, the City has consistently promoted public participation in City government as part of the City's core values; and WHEREAS, the Citizens' Bill of Rights and the City's Residents' Right to Know Ordinance each provide mechanisms for members of the community and City stakeholders to participate and provide input with respect to any issue or controversy within the jurisdiction of the City; and WHEREAS, over the years, neighborhood associations have organized to review legislation and other matters pending before the City Commission, and have adopted formal positions regarding those matters; and WHEREAS, in the spirit of encouraging more meaningful participation and promoting greater awareness of the positions adopted by neighborhood associations, the City Commission desires to formalize a procedure for the City Clerk, within one (1) business day following receipt of any Resolution adopted by a registered neighborhood association, to transmit said Resolutions to the Mayor and City Commission, the City Manager, City Attorney, and Inspector General via Letter to Commission, to advance the objectives of the Citizens' Bill of Rights and Residents Right to Know Ordinance, as set forth in Section 2-14 of the City Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the City Clerk, within one (1) business day following receipt of a Resolution adopted by any registered Neighborhood Association, to transmit the Resolution to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney, and Inspector General via Letter to Commission, in an effort to promote greater awareness of any formal positions adopted by Neighborhood Associations, and advance the public participation objectives of the City's Bill of Rights and "Residents' Right To Know" Ordinance, as set forth in section 2-14 of the City Code.
