A RESOLUTION APPROVING PROMOTIONAL EXAMINATION AND GROUP
HEALTH TRUST PROVISIONS TO BE ADDED TO THE COLLECTIVE
BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE
FOR THE DURATION OF THE CURRENT CONTRACT TERM.
WHEREAS, the City Manager has submitted for the consideration of the City
Commission for the City of Miami Beach, proposed provisions to be added to the
current Agreement by and between the City of Miami Beach and the Fraternal Order
of Police, the bargaining agent certified by the Public Employees Relations
Commission for the employees to be covered by said Agreement, setting forth
certain new provisions concerning promotional examinations and a Group Health
'Trust affecting the classes of employees set forth in said Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission accepts that all Fraternal Order of Police
members are, in fact, participantsin the said Group Health Trust as set forth
in the Agreement, it has directed that the City will attempt to work with the
Humana Health Care Plans and the Group Health Trust in order to provide the best
coverage possible for Fraternal Order of Police members with extreme medical
problems.~
'WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended that the City Commission approve
said new provisions; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is familiar with the terms and provisions of
said proposed new provisions and finds and de~ermtnes that the entry into and the
execution thereof for and in the name of the City of Miami Beach is in the best
interest of the City of Miami Beach and its residents; and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney has approved the same as to form and the legal
import thereof;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the aforesaid new provisions be and it is hereby
approved in accordance with and subject to the provisions of Chapter 447, Florida
Statutes, in the name of and on behalf of the City of Miami Beach, and that the
financial officers of the City be and they are hereby directed to make the
disbursements called for by said new provisions for fiscal year 1990/91 from
funds of the City available for such purpose.
