Members of the Board of Commissioners (as of June 30. 2022) Commissioner David Greeff, Chairperson Commissioner Mojdeh Khagan, Vice Chairperson Commissioner Leonor Fernandez Commissioner Matilde Bower The Tenant Commissioner position was vacant . Fiscal Year 2022 Main Activities COVID-19 Pandemic The HACMB continued implementing emergency protocols prioritizing health and safety first. In addition, food distribution to residents was emphasized and enhanced. Housing Development Despite pandemic challenges, this was a banner year for the HACMB in its efforts to carry out new initiatives to design and build quality affordable housing in Miami Beach. Two applications were submitted to the CMB Building Department for new construction permits for affordable housing developments: Eleven44 to provide 22 affordable units, and The Heron to provide 20 units of affordable housing. Housing Choice Vouchers The HACMB operated a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program with a baseline of 3,073 vouchers. In addition, the HACMB operated a HUD-VASH Program which provides 376 vouchers to veterans. The HACMB, in partnership with the Miami-Dade Homeless Trust, established a new Mainstream Voucher program providing 75 vouchers and a new Emergency Housing Voucher program providing 88 vouchers to families impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Affordable Housing The HACMB owned and operated seven properties throughout Miami Beach providing a total of 277 housing units. Public Housing The HACMB owned and operated 200 Public Housing units at Rebecca Towers South. Certificate of Consistency The CMB issued a Certificate of Consistency with its Consolidated Plan for the HACMB Annual Plan. Recommendations for Legislation or Other Action The HACMB supports and recommends the following legislation or other action: 1. Provide priority for permitting of affordable housing developments. 2. Provide further reduction of development related permitting fees. 3. Facilitate a reduction of waste management fees for affordable housing developments.
