Event: Senior Family Day
Date: October 1, 2022

Location: Scott Rakow Youth Center (2700 Sheridan Avenue)
Fee: Free
This free event is open to all seniors 55 + in the community and their families. Enjoy a
fun, family-friendly afternoon discovering the amenities of Scott Rakow Youth Center.
We will have music, bingo, bowling, games, snacks, and more . Space is limited, so
RSVP in person at North Shore Park, Scott Rakow Youth Center, Flamingo Park, or via
email to Kevin Cobas at kevincobas@miamibeachfl.gov .
Event: Hispanic Heritage Festival
Date: October 7, 2022
Time: 6:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m.
Location: North Shore Park (501 72 nd Street)
Fee: Entrance is Free -$5 unlimited rides
Enjoy an evening of celebrating Hispanic culture, featuring performances by children
participating in the Parks and Recreation Department after-school program, strolling
performances, arts and crafts, rides, a concession stand and more. Tickets can be

Event: Battle for Health & Fitness
Date: October 8, 2022

Join the Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department for a Health & Fitness
showcase we're calling the "Battle for Health and Fitness". Participants will have the
opportunity to meet different trainers and instructors who offer health and fitness
programming in the City of Miami Beach, as well as learn about their gym/fitness studio
offerings, while watching exciting competitions in a variety of skill sets. Participating
gyms and studios include: Barry's Bootcamp, Sweat 440, Rumble Box Gym, Orange
Theory Fitness, NOBE Yoga, Wlaminca Fitness, South Beach Volley, and Will Abreu Ju -
Jitsu.

Event: Toddler Bubble Show
Date: October 16, 2022
Time: 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m.
Location: Muss Park (4300 Chase Avenue)
Fee: $3 per person
Join us for an interactive bubble show with lights, fog, and magical tricks. Admission
includes a bubble show, popcorn, and a goodie bag. The bubble show starts at 11 a.m.

Event: Miami Beach Pull-Up Jam 2022 with Chris Heria
Date: October 23, 2022
Time: 1 :30 p.m. -4:00 p.m.
Location: Muscle Beach South Beach at Lummus Park (9 Street, Ocean Drive)
Fee: Free
Join us on October 23 rd for a fitness spectacle as athletes face-off at the Pull-Up Jam, a
calisthenics competition at Muscle Beach South Beach. Chris Heria, who will MC the
event, is a fitness trainer and social media fitness and wellness influencer with over 1
million followers, who fueled his fitness passion at Muscle Beach, and represented the
United States from 2012-2015 in the World Street Workout Championships. Participants
will be able to compete in events such as the weighted pull-up, muscle-up, freestyle and
handstand competitions. The first competition begins at 1 :30 p.m., and participants must
be at least 18 years old to enter. Sign-up is free, on a first-come, first-served basis. For

Hocus Pocus, rated PG. Popcorn is free, and refreshments will be available for sale.
Event: Halloween Happenings

Fee: $5 unlimited rides & entrance to Tot Street
Come enjoy a safe, fun evening of Halloween Activities. The event features carnival
games, rides, and Treats for Tots Street for toddlers and young children. For older
children we will also have ice skating and music. Refreshments will be available for
purchase . Complimentary shuttle parking will be available from the Miami Beach Senior
High School parking lot. Tickets can be purchased beginning October 17 th by visiting

Event: Halloween Laser Tag Event
Date: October 30, 2022

Location: Scott Rakow Youth Center Gymnasium (2700 Sheridan Avenue)
Fee: $5 per game
Test your skills at the 2022 Halloween Laser Tag game as you navigate a spooky maze
of fun. Reservations for ages 1 O+ will be required on a first-come, first-served basis upon
arrival at the event. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Complimentary shuttle
parking will be available from the Miami Beach Senior High School parking lot.

Event: Treats for Tots Halloween Street
Date: October 31, 2022

Toddlers & younger children are invited to Trick or Treat down our Treats for Tots
Halloween Street at the Scott Rakow Youth Center where they can take pictures with
some of their favorite characters and receive some Halloween goodies. Tickets can be

Event: Gym Kidz Gymnastics Classes
Location: Scott Rakow Youth Center (2700 Sheridan Avenue)
Ready to flip and tumble your way into fun? Gymnastic classes have started again at the
Scott Rakow Youth Center and registration is currently open. Gym Kidz offers
programming for toddlers through pre-teens. Class days and times vary depending on

Parks & Recreation will host different fundraisers throughout the month of October at
different facilities to help raise money towards breast cancer awareness. All proceeds
will be donated to the Miami Beach Strides to SEA a Cure Team who will be participating
in the Miami Strides Walk at Marlins Stadium on October 22, 2022 .

Anti -Bullying Awareness Month

participating in different anti-bullying awareness activities throughout the month of
October, including group work, art projects, guest speakers and more.
Event: REC 4 TEENS Volunteer Initiative Program
Date: Begins October 1, 2022
Locations: Scott Rakow Youth Center (2700 Sheridan Avenue)
Come and participate in our City of Miami Beach community service initiative. Once
registered, teens will be given information about each volunteer outing opportunity via
email. This program helps high school students to accumulate service hours needed to
graduate. Outings will include volunteer opportunities such as:
• Environmental Cleanups
• City Events
• Special Olympics
• Awareness Walks

Event: Ceramic Classes
Date: Beginning October 3, 2022
Days/Times: Mondays and Wednesdays I 9:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m.

Monthly Fee: $36 Residents I $63 Non-Residents
Learn the basics about ceramics and pottery at our ceramic classes for beginners. Ages
18+. One large piece per person per class or two small pieces per person per week.

Event: REC 4 TEENS Mauve Dance Team Tryouts
Date: October 13-October 14, 2022
Time: 3:30 p.m. -5:30 p.m.
Locations: Scott Rakow Youth Center (2700 Sheridan Avenue)
The Mauve Crew is a Hip Hop competition dance team for teens in grades 6-12. To be
part of the competitive team you must be selected during a 2-day tryout. Once selected,
the group will practice twice a week and will compete in 3-5 competitions throughout the

Event: Social Club Program Halloween Party
