SUBJECT : Temporary Closure of North Shore Library for Renovations
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is inform the Mayor and City Commission of the
upcoming temporary closure of the North Shore Library for improvements and renovations .
Starting on Monday, December 19, 2022 Miami-Dade County Public Library System will begin
repairs and improvements to the North Shore Library, including the replacement of flooring,
furniture and shelving as well as upgrading the air conditioning system. The interior of the
building will be repainted, energy-efficient LED lighting will be installed, and windows will be re-
sealed . Additional improvements include landscaping and restroom enhancements. The work is
expected to take nine weeks .
During the temporary closure, the Bookmobile will be available in the North Shore Library parking
lot to checkout materials and mobile devices and provide Wi-Fi connectivity . The Bookmobile will
be open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a .m . to 6 p.m .
Library patrons are also encouraged to visit the Miami-Dade online library, available 24/7, at
www .mdpls.org or any other nearby locations, including :

The Office of Marketing & Communications will share the information provided by Miami-Dade
County about the temporary closure and Bookmobile so that residents may plan accordingly .
