94-21183 ResoRESOLUTION NO. 94-21183 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR ~ CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE EXPANSION OF THE BASS MUSEUM BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND EXP/~NBION OF THE BASS MUSEUM WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach and the Bass Museum Board of Trustees are considering an expansion of the current Bass Museum; and, WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach Administration, the City Attorney's Office and the Bass Museum Trustees have deliberated for several months concerning the expansion of the Board of Trustees to be better representative of the community, and; WHEREAS, on May 25, 1994, Mr. Dennis Richards, testamentary devisee for Mr. & Mrs. John Bass, requested that discussions concerning the expansion of the Board of Trustees be considered at the June 15, 1994, Commission meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a public hearing to consider the expansion of the Bass Museum and the Board of Trustees is hereby called to be held before the City Commission in its Chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida, on June 8, 1994, beginning at 3~30 P.M., and that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish appropriate public notice of the public hearing in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Miami Beach, at which time and place all interested parties will be heard. On May 25, 1994, Dennis Richards, testamentary devisee for Mr. & Mrs. John Bass, requested by memorandum for the City Commission to discuss at the Commission meeting of June 15, 1994, the issues pertaining to the Bass Museum capital and Board of Trustees expansion. For several months the City Administration, the City Attorney's office and the City Commission have been meeting with the Board of Trustees of the Bass Museum and Mr. Dennis Richards and Melvin Richards, to discuss the enlargement of the Board of Trustees from five (5) current members to' a larger board, which would be representative of the community. To date, this agreement has not been reached. There are several proposals to be discussed at the June 15th meeting which will bring to closure the issues surrounding the Bass Museum. I understand that under the circumstances, you will have it placed on the June 15th aEenda instead. If at all possible, we would like a special appointment at or around 3: 30 p.m. As an alternative we would like to suggest a special meeting, possibly on June 8.
