A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF
CISCO NETWORK SERVER FROM CDW GOVERNMENT LLC,
PURSUANT TO CONTRACT 2021-060-DF, IN THE TOTALAMOUNT OF
$209,947.50
WHEREAS, the City utilizes various Cisco Networking Equipment (Cisco)
products in information technology infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, on July 26, 2021, the City was awarded $246,836 in grant
funding by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the Urban Area
Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program, which is set to expire on February 28,
2023; and
WHEREAS, on December 8, 2021, the Mayor and City Commission
adopted Resolution No. 2021-31938 accepting the recommendation of the City
Manager pursuant to ITB 2021-060-DF to establish a pool of Cisco Gold Certified
partners to expedite the selection of vendors for future projects and to approve the
initial pool of qualified suppliers; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2021-31938 also provided that any purchase in
excess of $100,000 pursuant to the ITB shall be subject to prior approval of the City
Commission; and
WHEREAS, in December 2022, the Project scope for the UASI grant was
modified to include the purchase networking equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Facilities and Fleet Management Department (the
"Department") seeks to purchase a Cisco Network Server as part of the grant -
funded Project; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with City contract ITB 2021-060-DF, the
Department issued Invitation to Quote (ITQ) 2023-040-JH to the prequalified pool of
vendors: CDW Government LLC (CDW) and Sentinel Technologies, Inc. (Sentinel); and
WHEREAS, CDW was the sole responsive bidder providing a proposal in
the amount of $209,947.50; and
WHEREAS, the Facilities and Fleet Department has reviewed the prices
submitted and determined that such prices are fair and reasonable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, the Mayor and City
Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, approve the purchase of a Cisco
Network Server from CDW Government LLC, pursuant to City Contract ITB 2021-
060-DF in the total amount of $209,947.50.

$209,947.50.
BACKGROUND
On December 8, 2021, the Mayor and City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2021-31938,
accepting the recommendation of the City Manager pursuant to Invitation to Bid (ITB) 2021-060-
DF to establish a pool of prequalified suppliers to be used to solicit future Cisco product
purchases. Additionally, the Resolution required that any purchases in an amount greater than
$100,000 be subject to prior approval of the City Commission.
The City utilizes various Cisco Networking Equipment (Cisco) products in its information
technology infrastructure. On July 26, 2021 the City was awarded $264,836.00 in grant funding
by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI)
Grant Program. In December 2022, the Project scope was modified to include the purchase of
networking equipment. Funding for this grant is set to expire on February 28, 2023.
ANALYSIS
The Facilities and Fleet Management Department (the Department) is seeking to purchase a new
Cisco Network Server as part of the grant -funded Project. Consequently, the Department issued
Invitation to Quote (ITQ) 2023-040-JH to the prequalified vendors for network equipment
established by City contract ITB 2021-060-DF. There are only two (2) vendors in the prequalified
pool: CDW Government LLC (CDW) and Sentinel Technologies, Inc. (Sentinel). Each vendor was
invited to submit statements of work and costs based on the ITQ (Exhibit A).
CDW was the sole responsive bidder providing a proposal for the Cisco Network Server is the
amount of $209,947.50. Sentinel was deemed non -responsive to the ITQ. The Department has
reviewed the proposal submitted and determined that such price is fair and reasonable.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 2021-31938, the total cost exceeds the $100,000 established by the
City's contract and thus requires City Commission approval. The Department seeks to issue
purchase order to CDW Government LLC, for the Cisco Network Server in the amount of
$209.947.50 for the UASI grant -funded Project.
Conclusion
Based on the foregoing, it is the recommendation of the City Manager that the Mayor and City
Commission of the City of Miami Beach, approve the purchase of a Cisco Network Server from
CDW Government LLC, pursuant to the City Contract 2021-060-DF, in the amount of
$209.947.50.
