A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
GRANTING MIAMI BEACH PRIDE'S REQUEST TO
WAIVE $40,416 IN RENTAL FEES FOR THE USE OF
PRIDE PARK ON APRIL 7-8, 2023, IN SUPPORT OF
MIAMI BEACH PRIDE'S FAMILY PICNIC EVENT.
WHEREAS, Miami Beach Gay Pride brings people together to recognize and
celebrate members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender ("LGTBQ")
community, as well as their friends, allies, and supporters in celebration of the LGTBQ
community; and
WHEREAS, Miami Beach Gay Pride celebrates Miami-Dade County's LGTBQ
community and draws big crowds 7 in 2019, the Miami Beach Pride Festival drew over
140,000 attendees; and
WHEREAS, Miami Beach Pride 2023, spanning from April 1 through April 16, will
celebrate its 15-year anniversary with expanded programming that includes an LGBTQ
Family picnic, scheduled to take place at Pride Park on April 7-8; and
WHEREAS, the cost of renting Pride Park for the LGBTQ Family Picnic is
approximately $40,416 and Miami Beach Pride requested for the City to waive the rental
fees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby grant Miami Beach Pride's request to waive $40,416 in rental fees
for the use of Pride Park on April 7-8, 2023, in support of Miami Beach Pride's Family
Picnic Event.
