Miami Marlins Celebrate "Sandy's Beach" in Miami Beach
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to announce the Miami Marlins have chosen Miami Beach
to hold a special event celebrating Miami Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara becoming the first Miami Marlin
to capture the National League Cy Young Award, at a ceremony which took place in late 2022. The event
will consist of bringing the feel of "Sandy's Beach," the popular fan section of loan Depot Park that provides
fans up-close access to Sandy Alcantara. In attendance, at the time of writing, will be Caroline O'Connor,
Marlins President of Operations, Alfredo Mesa, Vice President of Public Relations, Jason Latimer, Senior
Vice President of Communications and Sandy Alcantara.

Lummus Park, 6 Street and Ocean Drive.
The event will include the unveiling of temporary park signage (image attached) in Lummus Park
at 6 Street and Ocean Drive. It will be displayed until December 2023, while Sandy Alcantara
holds the Cy Young Award. In addition, the administration will partner with the Miami Marlins
through December to bring family-friendly programming to Sandy's Beach from May through
December 2023.
