Resolution 93-21007 ,• n RESOLUTION No. 93- 21007 - ' : ' ' '//i A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $606,300 ,. FROM PARKING BOND FUND 485, TO BE ALLOCATED TO EXISTING WORK ORDER NOS. 2060 ($15,300) ; 2061 ($41, 000) ; 2078 ($550, 000) RESPECTIVELY, AND FURTHER APPROPRIATING $500, 000 FROM PARKING IMPACT FUND 155 TO ESTABLISH A WORK ORDER FOR THE ACQUISITION OF THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT " 1027 COLLINS AVENUE. WHEREAS, a Parking Revenue Bond was issued in 1988, for parking related projects throughout the City of Miami Beach; and WHEREAS, the Parking Department is presently working on projects located at 75th and Collins, the Flamingo Park area, 1337 Collins, and 1027 Collins; and WHEREAS, these projects will help alleviate the demand for parking in Miami Beach; and WHEREAS, appropriations are required in advance of expenditures for capital projects within Parking Bond Fund Number 485; and t WHEREAS, 'this appropriation of funds will allow the administration to pay for these projects during FY 93/94 . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission herein approve the appropriation of monies from Parking Bond Fund 485, in the amount of $606, 300, to be allocated to existing Work Order Nos . 2060 ($15, 300) ; 2061 ($41, 000) ; 2078 ($550, 000) , respectively, and further- approve the appropriation of $500, 000 from Parking Impact Fund 155 to establish a work order for the acquisition of the property located at 1027 Collins Avenue. ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends appropriating $606, 300 from Bond Fund 485 to be allocated to existing work order numbers 2060 ($15, 300) ; 2061 ($41, 000) ; 2078 ($550, 000) ; and appropriate $500, 000 from the. Parking Impact Fund 155 to establish a work order within Fund 485 for land acquisition of 1027 Collins Avenue . BACKGROUND: The Parking Department is presently moving forward with the four projects mentioned above (75th & Collins, Flamingo PAL, 1337 Collins and 1027 Collins) . These projects require appropriation from Bond Fund 485 in order to continue work during FY 93/94 . Construction of a parking lot at 75th Street/Collins Avenue requires the appropriation of $15, 300 to cover costs that go beyond the $166, 770 that has been appropriated in work order 2060 . The Flamingo PAL project requires the appropriation of $41, 000 in addition to the $137, 440 that has been appropriated, to eliminate existing encumbrances and upgrade the status of the parking facilities at this location. The upgrading of the lot will increase the number of spaces available from 35 spaces to 120 spaces . I The project at 1337 Collins Avenue requires the appropriation of $550, 000 in order to demolish the existing structure and make the land satisfactory for construction. Also, the appropriation is needed so that construction may begin to extend the 13th Street Garage. The final amount will be known after bids are received. The site located at 1027 Collins Avenue requires the appropriation of $500, 000 from the Parking Impact Fund to Fund 485 in order to acquire the site from KTKL and cover other related costs . CONCLUSION: This appropriation totaling $1, 106, 300 from Parking Fund 485 will enable the Parking Department to continue to work on existing 24 projects as well as move forward in alleviating the demand for parking space in Miami Beach.
