A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMNIISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A
HISTORIC PRESERVATION GRANTS-IN-AID
APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,000 TO THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF STATE, DIVISION OF
HISTORICAL RESOURCES FOR A SURVEY AND
EVALUATION OF AREAS IDENTIFIED BY THE HISTORIC
PRESERVATION BOARD TO DETERMINE THE
CONTRIBUTING ARCHITECTURAL AND HISTORICAL
MERITS OF BUILDINGS FOR THE 1994 FUNDING CYCLE,
AND APPROPRIATING SUCH FUNDS IF AWARDED.
WHEREAS, all new construction or rehabilitation projects must be approved by
the City's departments of Development, Design and Historic Preservation Services, Public
Works, Building, Code Enforcement; and Fire; and
WHEREAS, if a project is located in the Miami Beach Architectural District or
affects a building listed or eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, then
all such plans and specifications must be approved by the State Historic Preservation Office
(SHPO), in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the SHPO and the
City; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida through the Division of Historical Resources has
announced the 1994 funding round for the Grants-In-Aid program; and
WHEREAS, the City has prepared the attached grant application outlining the
scope of proposed project activities and the funding amount requested.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby authorize the submission of a Historic Preservation Grants-In-Aid
application in the amount of$15,000 to the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical
Resources, for a survey and evaluation of areas identified by the Historic Preservation Board to
determine the contributing architectural and historical merits of buildings for the 1994 funding
cycle, and appropriating such funds if awarded.
