Commissioner Gottlieb Special Commission Meeting - February 24 , 1994 4 1 RESOLUTION NO. , A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 93- 20963 WHICH EXTENDED THE OPERATIONAL 'HOURS OF PARKING METERS SOUTH OF DADE BOULEVARD/23RD STREET TO INCLUDE THE HOURS BETWEEN 6:00 A.M. AND MIDNIGHT, AND PROVIDING THAT HEREAFTER PARKING METERS IN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH SHALL NOT BE OPERATIONAL AFTER 6:00 P.M. WHEREAS, on November 17, 1993, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida adopted Resolution No. 93- 20963, which resolution extended the operational hours of parking meters South of Dade Boulevard/23rd Street, to include the hours between 6 : 00 P.M. and midnight seven days weekly, holidays included; and WHEREAS, parking meter rates in Miami Beach are among the highest in Dade County; and WHEREAS, the rates charged for parking at metered spaces in Miami Beach combined with the hours of operation which include the evening hours from 6 : 00 P.M. to midnight in the area South of Dade Boulevard/23rd Street create an inconvenience for residents and visitors and are a deterrent to commerce; and WHEREAS, after consideration and examination of the rate structure and hours of operation for parking meters in the City of Miami Beach, the mayor and City Commission believe that there should be no charge for parking at metered spaces in the City of Miami Beach after 6 : 00 P.M. , unless said parking facility is attended at all times after 6 : 00 P.M. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: that Resolution No. 93-20963 is hereby repealed; and that effective as soon as practicable upon adoption of this Resolution, parking meters in the City of Miami Beach shall not be operational after 6 : 00 P.M. • • unless said parking facility is attended at all times after 6 : 00 P.M. Currently, parking meters south of Twenty-third Street/Dade Boulevard are in operation until midnight pursuant to Resolution No. 93-20963 adopted on November 17, 1993 . The attached resolution provides for a return to former hours of enforcement which are 6 : 00 A.M. to 6 : 00 P.M.
