A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS
IN THE AMOUNT OF $600, 000 FROM
PARKING FUND 485, AND FURTHER
ESTABLISHING A WORK ORDER WITHIN
PARKING FUND 485, FOR THE .
CONSTRUCTION OF A PARKING LOT IN. THE
FLAMINGO PARK AREA AND FOR
IMPROVEMENTS ALONG MICHIGAN AVENUE
BETWEEN 12TH AND 15TH STREETS.
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the need to provide additional
parking spaces for the residents of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Parking Department has plans to move forward to
alleviate the high demand for parking in Miami Beach by
constructing parking facilities in the Flamingo Park area; and
WHEREAS, appropriations are required in advance of
expenditures for parking capital projects; and
WHEREAS, this appropriation of funds will allow the
Administration to pay for these projects .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Mayor and
City Commission herein approve the appropriation of monies from
Parking Fund 485, in the amount of $600, 000, and further establish
a work order within Parking Fund 485, for the construction of a
parking lot in the Flamingo Park area and for improvements along
Michigan Avenue between 12th and 15th . r ets .

SUBJECT: REQUEST APPROPRIATION OF $600, 000 FROM PARKING. FUND 485
AND ESTABLISH A WORK ORDER WITHIN FUND 485 FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A PARKING FACILITY IN THE FLAMINGO PARK
AREA AND FOR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS ALONG MICHIGAN AVENUE.

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMEENDATION:
The Administration recommends appropriating $600, 000 from Parking
Fund 485 and establish a work order within 'Fund 485 for the
construction of a- parking facility in the Flamingo Park area and
for improvements along Michigan Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
The two projects require an appropriation of $600, 000 in order to
cover architectural fees, construction costs and contingencies for
both projects. These costs include, but are not limited to, site
clearing and preparation, asphaltic concrete, sidewalk, curbing and '
pavement, storm drainage, lighting, . landscaping, irrigation,
fencing and other site work.
The Flamingo Baseball lot, located on the northern end of the park
* will add 133 spaces including 5 handicap spaces. The Michigan
Avenue improvements, located between 12th and 15th Streets will
provide 81 spaces, including 4 _handicap spaces.

CONCLUSION:
This appropriation , totaling $600, 000 from Parking Fund 485, will
enable the Parking Department to move forward in providing the
"residents of Miami Beach with accessible parking as well as help
alleviate the high demand for parking in the Flamingo Park area.
