You are cordially invited to attend the Miami Beach Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony
Friday, April 30th, 2004 at Poinciana Park. The event is hosted by the Miami Beach Parks
and Recreation Department and the Miami Beach Beautification Committee.
In recognition of this year's Arbor Day, The Miami Beach Parks & Recreation Department
and the Miami Beach Beautification Committee are hosting a tree planting ceremony at
Poinciana Park. Located at the intersection of La Gorce Drive, Alton Road and W. 63rd
Street, Poinciana Park offers a great opportunity for planting trees and beautifying the local
area. The local chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (AS LA) recently
held a design charette with members of the community and developed a conceptual plan
for the park. The City of Miami Beach Parks Division has agreed to purchase new trees to
be planted as part of those proposed improvements in celebration of Arbor Day 2004.
The Beautification Committee has invited students from Biscayne Elementary School to
attend, and in addition to the tree planting ceremony there will be brief educational
sessions on the important roles that trees play in the ecosystem. Light refreshments and
handouts will be provided. The events will begin at 10:30 a.m. and public participation and
attendance are welcomed.
