A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, WAIVING THE RENTAL FEE, IN
THE APPROXIMATE AMOUNT OF $6,000, FOR THE USE OF THE
MIAMI- BEACH BOTANICAL GARDENS AS A VENUE FOR AYUDA,
INC.'S ANNUAL GALA, SCHEDULED TO BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER
992023.
WHEREAS, AYUDA, Inc. is a community -based non-profit organization in Miami
Beach, Florida that was established in 1977; and
WHEREAS, since its establishment, AYUDA has served over 200,000 children,
adolescents, adults, and elderly in South Florida; and
WHEREAS, AYUDA is planning on holding its annual gala and fundraiser at the
Miami Beach Botanical Gardens on September 9, 2023; and
WHEREAS, AYUDA requested for the City to waive the rental fees, in the
approximate amount of $6,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby waive the rental fee, in the approximate amount of $6,000, for the
use of the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens as a venue for AYUDA, Inc.'s annual gala,
scheduled to be held on September 9, 2023.

Dear Kristen,
Hope you are well. Diana is on Israeli mission and is back 5/15. She says last time you were with her.
AYUDA is involved again this year (for the 3rd year in a row) with the Miami Beach Salsa Fest and Melina
Almodovar is now on our Board (joined last year). We would love to have our annual Gala at the! Miami
Beach Botanical Garden. It is planned for 9/9/23 and I am currently in dialogue with the Garden which is
available that evening. The event will be one week prior to the MB Salsa Fest and it will be a pre party /
kick off event for the Salsa Fest, a tribute night for DeAnne Connolly Graham (who was our Board Chair
for 18 years before her untimely passing last year) and a fundraiser for AYUDA. Could you possibly help
reduce the rental fee ($6,000)? Other fees include liquor package (minimum $9,600) and security. I
would be happy to meet with you at your convenience. We lost about half our funding recently and we
are trying to keep everything going! Thank you! I have reached out to Mayor's office and Danielle Mejia,
Lissette Arrogante, and Marcia Monserrat and am waiting to hear back. David Richardson has been
supportive with helping get rent waived at the Bandshell for MB Salsa Fest. I look forward to hearing
