RESOLUTION NO. 2023-32651
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING $5,000 IN FUNDING FOR THE
PUBLICATION OF THE COMIC BOOK "THE ADVENTURES OF BIBI &
FRIENDS," TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO THE PUBLIC FREE OF CHARGE
DURING THE UPCOMING ART SEASON.
WHEREAS, the Adventures of Bibi & Friends has been the most unique advertising for
the City of Miami Beach for the past 23 years, but has not been issued since 2015; and
WHEREAS, since 1999, the Adventures of Bibi & Friends has produced a publication
series that presents the best of the City in a fun fresh way which incorporates the citizens of the
City; and
WHEREAS, at the July 20, 2022 City Commission meeting, the Mayor and City
Commission referred an item to Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee to discuss a
requested $5,000.00 cash sponsorship for Bibi Andrade to produce a comic book issue of"The
Adventures of Bibi & Friends"to promote Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, distribution channels has historically been through the Art Deco Welcome
Center and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, with approximately 5,000 copies
printed; and
WHEREAS, the funding would allow this publication to be free to the public during the
upcoming Art season, but should the funding not be.available, the publication will still move
forward, but would be available to the public at a cost; and
WHEREAS, the most recent issue will be dedicated to 2 champions of the citizens of
Miami Beach—Commissioner Mark Samuelian and Michael Alter; and
WHEREAS, considering the funding request is only $5,000, at its October 30, 2022
meeting, FERC deferred the decision to the City Administration; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends allocating $5,000 to fund the new
issue of The Adventures of Bibi & Friends.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby allocate $5,000 in funding for the publication of the comic book "The
Adventures of Bibi & Friends," to be distributed to the public free of charge during the upcoming
Art season.
