A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE
• PURCHASE OF CISCO HARDWARE FROM CDW
GOVERNMENT, LLC ("CDW"), PURSUANT TO CONTRACT
2021-060-DF, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $371,591.57.
WHEREAS, since 2000, the City of Miami Beach has standardized on Cisco technology
solutions; and
WHEREAS, a uniform standardized platform reduces operational costs and allows for a
streamlined deployment process, minimal parts inventory and more specialized training;
WHEREAS, through maintaining one management system, and one line of products for
wired and wireless networks, the City can continue ensuring serviceability and continuity of
operations; and
WHEREAS, on December 8, 2021, the Mayor and City Commission adopted Resolution
No. 2021-31938, accepting the recommendation of the City Manager pursuant to Invitation to Bid
(ITB) 2021-060-DF to establish a pool of prequalified suppliers to be used to solicit future Cisco
product purchases, and requiring that any purchases in an amount greater than $100,000 be
subject to City Commission approval; and
WHEREAS, the current infrastructure is reaching end of life, and although functional, '
hardware and firmware will no longer be supported; and
WHEREAS, the Information Technology Department (IT) is seeking to purchase new
Cisco Hardware, issued and Invitation to Quote (ITQ) 23-0640-35 to the prequalified vendors,
CDW Government, LLC ("CDW") and Sentinel Technologies, Inc. ("Sentinel"); and
WHEREAS, Sentinel responded via email with a no-bid, and CDW responded with a quote
of$371,591.57, which is valid up until July 28, 2023; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH FLORIDA,that the Mayor and City Commission
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, approve the purchase of a Cisco Hardware from CDW
Government, LLC ("CWD"), pursuant to City Contract 1TB 2021- 060-DF, in the total amount of
$371,591.57.

SUBJECT:A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF CISCO
HARDWARE FROM CDWGOVERNMENT LLC (CDW), PURSUANT TO
CONTRACT 2021-060-DF, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF$371,591.57.
RECOMMENDATION
The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission approve the purchase of
a Cisco hardware from CDW, pursuant to ITB 2021-060-DF Prequalification Pool for Cisco
Networking Equipment.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
The City has, since 2000, standardized on Cisco technology solutions.A standardized platform
reduces operational costs and allows for a streamlined deployment process, minimal parts
inventory and more specialized training. In maintaining one management system and one line of
products for wired and wireless networks, the City of Miami Beach can continue ensuring
serviceability and continuity of operations.
On December 8, 2021, the Mayor and City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2021-31938,
accepting the recommendation of the City Manager pursuant to Invitation to Bid (ITB) 2021-
060-DF to establish a pool of prequalified suppliers to be used to solicit future Cisco product
purchases. Additionally, the Resolution required that any purchases in an amount greater than
$100,000 be subject to prior approval of the City Commission.
The current infrastructure is reaching the end of its serviceable life. Although functional,
components will no longer be supported by the manufacturer and newer technologies allow for
consolidation and future scalability. The lack of support is not recommended to run the City's
production technical infrastructure.
ANALYSIS
The Information Technology Department (IT) is seeking to purchase new Cisco Hardware. IT
issued and Invitation to Quote (ITQ)23-0640-35 to the prequalified vendors CDW and Sentinel
Technologies, Inc. (Sentinel). Sentinel responded with via email a no-bid.

Based on the foregoing, it is the recommendation of the City Manager that the Mayor and City
Commission of the City of Miami Beach, approve the purchase of a Cisco Network Server from
CDW Government LLC, pursuant to the City Contract 2021-060-DF, in the amount of
$371,591.57.
