A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE
RECOMMENDATION OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY AND
NEIGHBORHOOD QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE, MADE AT ITS
MARCH 22, 2023 MEETING, AND DIRECTING THE ADMINISTRATION
TO CONDUCT A CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP ON TRAFFIC
MANAGEMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach (the "City") routinely experiences capacity
issues on several major thoroughfares during the afternoon peak hours of 4:00 PM to
7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, resulting in severe traffic congestion, particularly during
high impact periods; and
WHEREAS, multiple traffic -related items have been referred to the Public Safety
and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee ("PSNQLC") for discussion; and
WHEREAS, at the March 22, 2023 PSNQLC meeting, the Committee discussed
various traffic issues such as the synchronization of traffic lights on multiple corridors,
the 63rd Street bridge opening schedule, and other traffic issues of concern; and
WHEREAS, during discussion on these items, the PSNQLC recommended that
the City Administration conduct a City Commission Workshop on Traffic Management, to
discuss traffic concerns comprehensively and in greater detail, including identifying
challenges and opportunities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission accept the recommendation of the Public Safety and Neighborhood and
Quality of Life Committee, made at its March 22, 2023 meeting, and direct the City
Administration to conduct a City Commission Workshop on Traffic Management.

BACKGROUND/HISTORY
