The purpose of this LTC is to advise you of two investigative reports by WSVN Channel 7
that will be airing this week.
The first one deals with the 42nd Street construction project and parents alleging that
children at North Beach Elementary are getting sick from the dust in the area. This report
airs Tuesday, May 11 at 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m. Tim Hemstreet,
CIP Director, responded that the City and contractor have followed all construction and
OSHA guidelines as required.
The second report deals with our Fire Department's swimming assessments and water
rescues. This report airs on Thursday, May 13 at 10:00 p.m. Fire Chief Jordan and I
responded to an allegation that by not requiring swimming as a condition of employment it
would adversely affect the department's ability to respond to water rescues.
