Hudak, City Manag� January 9, 2024 lf'J cr J SUBJECT: Homeless Point in Time Census -January 25-26, 2024 The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to advise that the City's Homeless Outreach Services Division will be participating in the countywide Point in Time Census managed by the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust on January 25-26, 2024. The Point in Time Census is conducted during January and August each year. The bi-annual census is the physical count of the homeless on City streets. The census will take place between 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024, and 6:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024. The Homeless Outreach Services Division's walk-in center will close at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024, and remain closed through Friday, January 26, 2024, to enable staff participation in the census. The Division's extended outreach team will continue to conduct street outreach, engagement, and shelter placements during this time. New Hope C.O.R.P.S., the City's vendor, will also conduct routine after-hours specialized outreach from 7:00 p.m. -3:00 a.m., and Miami Beach Police Department officers are also able to make direct shelter placements. The office will re-open on Monday, January 29, 2024, and resume normal operations. Staff will provide an update on Point in Time Census results via a subsequent Letter to Commission.
