Further to your memo of 6-17-98 please find a brief list of historic hotels that
have been significantly restored on the Beach since 1 996 as well as new hotel
structures currently being built or approved for construction; this list may be
useful to the City Manager in his interview on Monday, June 22, 1998.
New Hotel Structures Being Built in Association with Historic Hotels
o Loews Miami Beach Hotel - major new convention hotel in association with the
restoration of the historic St. Moritz Hotel 1565 Collins Ave
o Crown Plaza Hotel - two new hotel towers and cabana guest room structures
in association with the renovation of the historic Royal Palm and Shorecrest
Hotels (African-American Hotel Project) - 1535 and 1545 Collins Ave
o Marriot Hotel - major new hotel structure in association with the restoration
of the Century Beach Club - 1 61 Ocean Dr
o Shore Club Hotel 20 story new guest room tower in association with
restoration and renovation of historic Shore Club Hotel - 1 901 Collins Ave
o Hampton Inn - new guest room wings in association with renovation of historic
Surfcomber and Seacomber Hotels - 1717 Collins Ave
o Fontainebleau-Hilton Hotel major renovation and expansion, including
proposed new high rise guest room tower (five year phased construction
project)

o Delano Hotel - major renovations and reconstruction of cabana guest rooms

o National Hotel - major restoration to original 1939 plans and renovations of

o Albion Hotel - major restoration and renovation substantially to original plans

o Tides Hotel major restoration of hotel substantially to original plans in
conjunction major renovation to five star hotel - 1 220 Ocean Dr
o Hotel Astor - restoration substantially to original plans in conjunction with
