SUBJECT: Becoming a Woman in Blue Symposium
The purpose of this LTC is to inform the Commission about an upcoming recruitment event
organized by the Miami Beach Police Department in collaboration with the Miami Beach
Police Athletic League.
The event, titled "Becoming a Woman in Blue," is a symposium aimed at highlighting the
benefits and opportunities available to women interested in pursuing a career in law
enforcement. This symposium marks the second time in our department's history that we
have organized such an event, with the previous one in 2017 drawing approximately 175
attendees.
The symposium will be held in person on April 27, 2024, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Lincoln
Road Ballroom inside the Miami Beach Convention Center, located at 1901 Convention
Ctr Dr, Miami Beach, FL, USA.
We invite the Commission to join us for this exciting event, where attendees will have the
opportunity to explore the journey of women in law enforcement. The program will feature
inspiring stories and valuable insights from female officers who have paved the way in this
field. Whether one is considering a career as a police officer or in any of the support units,
this event promises to inspire and empower.
