A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING THE
DADE COUNTY COMMISSION TO RECONSIDER AND TO
ADOPT THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE DADE
COUNTY HUMAN RIGHTS ORDINANCE WHICH WAS
CONSIDERED AND FAILED OF ADOPTION ON JUNE 17,
1997.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Dade County, Florida (the "lDac e
County Commission") took up and considered a proposed amendment to the Dade County HuTin n
Rights Ordinance on June 17, 1997 which included provisions to prohibit discrimination in IZ ~aC e
County on the basis of sexual orientation in housing, credit and finance, public accommodations, ar .:1
employment; and
WHEREAS, the proposed amendment to the Human Rights Ordinance failed of adoF tic n
after consideration by the Dade County Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach deems it in the best interest of the citizens of Dace
County that said amendment to the Human Rights Ordinance be reconsidered and adopted b> tl' e
Dade County Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND C31~T' i(
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Dade Counl~,
Commission is hereby urged to reconsider and adopt that proposed Human Rights Ordinance
amendment which was considered by the Dade County Commission on June 17, 1997 and wZ~ic ~
failed of adoption on said date.
