Kasdin and Members of the City Commission FROM: Sergio Rodriguez City Manager SUBJECT: SOUTH POINTE STREETSCAPE On September 23, 1998, the City Commission and RDA Board appropriated $3.8 million to implement the South Pointe Streetscape, as prioritized. An RFQ was issued on November 25, 1998, seeking proposals to prepare a master plan including design, construction and bid documents and to assist in the construction bidding and administration ofthe South Pointe Streetscape project. The scope of work will address the priority list including undergrounding utility components. The priority streetscape projects include First Street from Ocean Drive to W ashington Avenue, Third Street from Ocean Drive to Michigan Avenue including the Mosaic Plaza, Washington Avenue from South Pointe Drive to Fifth Street, Jefferson Avenue from Second Street to Fifth Street and Euclid Avenue from Third Street to Fifth Street. A total of 383 notices were sent out which generated 35 requests for RFQs. Responses from qualified proposers are due on December 30, 1998. Please note that W ashington Avenue improvements from Fifth Street to Sixth Street are included in the streetscape plan prepared by Savino and Miller, and included in the Washington Avenue Streetscape Plan appropriation approved by the City Commission on December 16, 1998. The Duany Plater-Zyberk plan will serve as a basis for the South Pointe Master Plan and the project will be phased based upon available funding. The master plan will serve as the coordinating document to ensure consistent integration and coordinated undergrounding of intersecting streets.
