476-2004 RDA Reso RESOLUTION NO. 476-2004 A RESOLUTION OF THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE MIAMI BEACH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SELECT, NEGOTIATE, AWARD AND REJECT ALL BIDS, CONTRACTS, AGREEMENTS, PURCHASE ORDERS, CHANGE ORDERS AND GRANT APPLICATIONS; RENEW EXISTING CONTRACTS WHICH MAY EXPIRE, AND TERMINATE EXISTING CONTRACTS AS NEEDED FROM THE LAST AGENCY MEETING ON JULY 28, 2004, UNTIL THE FIRST REGULARLY SCHEDULED AGENCY MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2004, SUBJECT TO RATIFICATION BY THE AGENCY AT ITS FIRST REGULARLY SCHEDULED MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2004. WHEREAS, between the last meeting on July 28, 2004, and the first regularly scheduled meeting on September 8, 2004, the Redevelopment Agency (the "Agency") will not be in session. During this period, there may be bids or contracts in excess of the $25,000 limitation, which may need to be rejected, awarded or terminated. The Agency has historically, during such periods, assigned certain powers to the Executive Director subject to ratification by the Agency; and WHEREAS, it is therefore requested that the Executive Director, or his designee, be authorized to sign all contracts, agreements, purchase orders, change orders, and grant applications that may affect the health, safety, or welfare of the Agency, and renew any existing contracts, for an appropriate period of time from the last Agency meeting on July 28, 2004, until the first regularly scheduled Agency meeting on September 8, 2004, subject to ratification by the Agency at its first regularly scheduled meeting on September 8, 2004; and WHEREAS, since this authorization is necessary to ensure that essential services and projects continue during the period between the last Agency meeting on July 28, 2004, until the first regularly scheduled Agency meeting on September 8, 2004, it is recommended that the Agency adopt this Resolution. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE MIAMI BEACH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, that the Chairman and Members of the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency authorize the Executive Director, or designee to select, negotiate, award and reject all bids, contracts, agreements, purchase orders, change orders and grant applications; renew existing contracts which may expire, and terminate existing contracts as needed from the last Agency meeting on July 28, 2004, until the first regularly schedule Agency meeting on September 8, 2004, subject to ratification by the Agency at its first regularly sc e uled eeting on September 8, 2004.
