SUBJECT: EVALUATION COMMITTEE FOR ARCIDTECTURAL OR ENGINEERING
FIRMS TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES FOR THE
RENOVATION OF THE MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER AND
THE JACKIE GLEASON THEATER OF THE PERFORMING ARTS TO
MAKE AVAILABLE ADA-COMPLIANT RESTROOMS, DOORS, RAMPS
AND OTHER IMPROVEMENTS.
The City's Procurement Department has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking
Architects or Engineers to prepare the Plans, Specifications, and Construction Documents for the
renovation of the Miami Beach Convention Center and Jackie Gleason Theater of the Performing
Arts, (TOP A) to bring them into compliance with the requirements of the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA). Responses were received and opened on August 6, 1999.
I intend to appoint the following individuals to serve on the Evaluation Committee to review the
proposals:
1. Mayra Diaz-Buttacavoli, Assistant City Manager
2. Steve Clark ofSMG Inc., Director of Operations of the Convention Center
3. Michel Magliore, Capital Projects Coordinator and ADA Coordinator
4. Andrew Batavia, J.D., Co-Chairperson, Barrier-Free Environment Committee and Miami
Beach Resident
5. Mildred Levenson, Co-Chairperson, Barrier-Free Environment Committee and Miami Beach

6. Norman Litz, Ex Officio Member of the Convention Center Advisory Board and Miami
Beach resident.
