On July 28, 2004, the Mayor and City Commission adopted Ordinance Number 2004-3451 which
provides for registered domestic partnerships and sets forth the rights and legal effects of such
partnerships. The effective date of the ordinance was August 7. Beginning Monday, August 9 the
City Clerk's Office began registering domestic partners.
As of today, September 29, 2004, the City Clerk's Office registered its 100th domestic partnership.
