Gonzalez ~ ~L r City Manager () 1) Collaboration of the Arts, An Affair of the Arts Performance and Gala To: Subject: This Letter to Commission is to inform you of the upcoming "Collaboration of the Arts", An Affair of the Arts Performance and Gala which is taking place on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Collins Park Cultural Center. This gala is NFAA's main fund raising activity. With the collaboration of the City of Miami Beach, Miami City Ballet, Bass Museum of Art, New World Symphony and the Miami Beach Public Library, the 2005 gala is planned to be a complete theatrical event. It will feature and honor up to 125 high school senior national winners of the ARTS program, these young actors, dancers, singers, musicians, writers, visual ârtists, photographers and film makers, bringing an enthusiasm and energy to the evening. The evening's highlight will be the presentation of the 5th Annual Arison Award to Mikhail Baryshnikov. The Arison Award is given annually by NFAA to an individual who has had a significant impact on the lives of young people in the arts. The Arison Award includes a $10,000 grant from NFAA to the recipient's charitable organization of choice. Mr. Baryshnikov will be honored for his contribution to the professional development of emerging and mid-career artists. His principle work in encouraging young artists has been through the Baryshnikov Arts Center and the Baryshnikov Dance Foundation dedicated to foster the development of new and experimental work. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. with a Champagne Reception, followed by performances by NFAA ARTS alumni, Introduction of the 2005 NFAA ARTS Winners and Presentation of the Fifth Annual Arison Award to Mikhail Baryshnikov. Cocktail Reception, Silent Auction and Dinner and Dancing will begin at 7:30 p.m. You and one guest are cordially invited to join.
