This Letter to the Commission is to advise you that this Friday, February 4, marks the
opening of the 2005 Miami International Film Festival. This year's edition marks the twenty
second anniversary and runs through Sunday, February 13. The festival has continued
their recent presence on Miami Beach with multiple screenings at the Regal Cinema
Lincoln Road, as well as having the Royal Palm serve as host hotel and location of the
"Encuentros" market. We are committed to continuing to foster our City's relationship with
Miami Dade College who is again producing this world renowned festival by providing
grants through the Visitor and Convention Authority, as well as other support services.
In return, Miami Dade College and the Film Festival have offered opportunities for the
Mayor and Commissioners to attend screenings and other functions as they are available.

Office at x7577. He will make the request to the Film Festival staff and provide updates on
availabilities.
