Gonzalez ~"- /' City Manager () Õ Subject: Parks & Recreation - Sports ExpoNalentine'slTown Meetina Update · The Youth Sports Expo scored huge success Sunday, February 6, 2005 at North Shore Park. More than 250 children, twice as many children as ever before registered for upcoming programs. Conservative estimates put total attendance at 1,500. The first 200 registrants received free food for themselves and theirfamilies. There were seven free rides, free popcorn for all, a Fire Department demonstration where kids handled fire hoses, and presentations of yoga, karate and flamenco dancing. Renowned Latin singer/dancer Chayanne, who starred in the movie Dance With Me, will be registering his child in our program. Date: February 8, 2005 From: · Parks & Recreation will celebrate Valentine's Day with several events. Valentine's Day Dances will be held February 11,2005 for 2nd & 3rd graders at the 21st. Street Recreation Center from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.; and for 4th - 6th graders at the North Shore Park & Youth Center from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. On February 12, 2005, the North Shore Margaret M. Swett Social Club's Valentine's Day Dance will be held from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the 21st Street Recreation Center. · The first "Kids Come First" Town Meeting will be held at the North Shore Park Youth Center, 501 72nd Street Wednesday February 17, 2005 from 11 :00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The City has invited leaders of public and private schools, civic and religious organizations, and fraternal groups to this community outreach event. We will discuss current and future programming needs for our youth as part of our continuing focus on building partnerships with community leaders and organizations.
