A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING, BY 517THS VOTE, THE WAIVER OF
FORMAL COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AWARD OF A
CONTRACT TO DPC GENERAL CONTRACTORS, INC., IN
THE AMOUNT OF $15,775.00, FOR THE EMERGENCY
REMOVAL OF ASBESTOS MATERIAL AT THE EXISTING
BASS MUSEUM BUILDING
WHEREAS, on December 3, 1997, the Mayor and City Commission authorized the award
of a construction contract, in the amount of $6,450,500, to Danville-Findorff, Inc., for the Expansion
and Renovation of the Bass Museum of Art; and
WHEREAS, during demolition of installations in the existing building, a material containing
friable asbestos has been discovered; and
WHEREAS, construction in the area has been stopped until abatement can be performed,
thereby creating a significant delay to the Project; and
WHEREAS, the Administration has obtained quotations on an emergency basis to perform
the asbestos abatement services.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission authorize, by 5/7ths vote, the waiver of formal competitive bidding and award a
contract to DPC General Contractors, Inc., in the amount of$15,775.00, for the emergency removal
of asbestos material at the existing Bass Museum building.

Dear Mr. Henderson:
Please accept the following as our proposal for the above referenced project:
SCOPE OF WORK
1. DPC General Contractors, Inc. proposes to furnish all labor, materials and equipment necessary to remove and
dispose of the following asbestos containing materials, as per information supplied by Bruce Henderson, City of
Miami Beach, Florida:
a) Popcorn ceiling spray (:t 600 SF)
b) Carpet, vinyl floor tile and mastic (:t 4,800 SF) located on the first and second floor levels, as per plans
2. Schedule - begin work on Monday, October 11, 1999.
3. Air monitoring and clearances to be performed by an independent testing laboratory.
4. In addition, all work to be done in accordance with attached General Scope of Work.
