Subject: RFP No. 48-03/04- Collection and Disposal of Residential Solid Waste
The purpose of this LTC is to inform you of the progress in implementing Resolution No.
2004-25768 authorizing the administration to enter into negotiations for residential solid
waste/bulk/yardwaste collection and the operation of the City's Greenwaste Facility with the
top ranked firm of Waste Management, Inc. of Florida.
Commission Memorandum dated December 8, 2005, stated that the monthly cost of the
proposed ~ervices would not exceed $38.53 per residential unit. As a result of successful
negotiations between the top-ranked firm, Waste Management Inc. of Florida and Public
Works Sanitation Division along with contributions from the Sanitation Enterprise Fund, the
monthly billing rate per residential unit will be $37.57 or an annual cost of $450.84 per
residential unit. Our original projection for the rate was $38.53, which was reduced by
$0.96 as a result of negotiation and a supplement from the Sanitation fund.
The new rate will reflect an annual increase of $57.48 per residential unit. The following is
a comparison of current rates and services in neighboring municipalities.
