Gonzalez \I'-r;--(. City Manager I } .' ,; Date: March 18, 2005 Subject: HARDING AVENUE PROJECT, FROM 88TH TO 75TH STREETS As directed by the City Commission on February 23, 2005, Commissioners Garcia and Steinberg met with Mr. David Mendez of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT~ in an attempt to modify the FDOT safety project for Harding Avenue, from 88th to 75 Streets. At this meeting, FDOT presented a revised plan for the project which deletes the previously proposed chicane pattern throughout the corridor, and maintains parking on both sides of the street. As part of this LTC you will find Attachment "A" which describes both the previous FDOT plan and the revised plan, above mentioned. Attachment liB" shows a typical roadway project section with striped parking on both sides of the street, and maintains the three (3) current traffic lanes, with bulb-outs and pedestrian crosswalks at signalized intersections. The Commission-requested pedestrian warrant analysis is almost completed, pending on- going analysis of additional data that was collected to help ensure the report's thoroughness. You will receive a copy of this report as soon as it becomes available. In addition, FDOT is planning another public information meeting in North Beach, to be held in the next three to four weeks, to present the revised plan for Harding Avenue. You will receive proper notification of this meeting. Please contact me if you have concerns or questions.
