This Letter to the City Commission is to provide background information on the programs
Ms. Barbara Sanchez was involved in during 2004.
Ms. Barbara Sanchez has been employed with the City of Miami Beach Police Department
for 8 years. Ms. Sanchez was originally hired as an Office Associate III and has since been
asked to serve in the capacity of Community Involvement Specialist.
Ms. Sanchez was involved in the following activities during 2004:
Crime Watch Organization
Attorney General's Office/Senior Storefront Project
Senior Task Force
Senior Aid Program
Citizen Stand against Crime
Tourist and Foreign Dignitary Referrals
Victim's Assistance
Halloween Safety Program
Liaison with Miami-Dade County Crime Watch
Ms. Sanchez is very involved with Elderly Affairs and provides home care information, food
assistance, housing assistance, legal assistance, and medical referrals. Ms. Sanchez
oversees approximately 34 elderly Condominium Association Crime Watch groups
throughout the City and assists with hurricane evacuation procedures.
Ms. Sanchez has also solicited donations and sponsorships for programs such as the
Annual Toy Drive, the Junior Police Academy, and many Youth Volunteer
