RESOLUTION NO. 99-23380
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CALLING FOR A SPECIAL
COMMISSION MEETING TO BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER
10,1999 AT 10:00 A.M., FOR THE PURPOSE OF CANVASSING THE
RETURNS OF THE RUNOFF ELECTION, ADJOURNING THE
CANVASSING BOARD FOR THE NOVEMBER 9, 1999 RUNOFF
ELECTION, AND INSTALLING THE NEWLY ELECTED MAYOR AND
CITY COMMISSIONERS IN GROUPS IV, V, AND VI.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 38-4 of the Miami Beach City Code: ".........; if a runoff
election is necessary, all new officers shall be declared elected subsequent to canvass of elections
returns on the first day after the runoff election, at which time the new officers shall be installed and
shall enter upon the discharge of their duties".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that a Special Commission
meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of
canvassing the returns of the Runoff Election, adjourning the November 9, 1999 canvassing board,
and installing the newly elected Mayor and City Commissioners in Groups IV, V, and VI.

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
Pursuant to Section 38-4 of the Miami Beach City Code: ".........; if a runoff election is necessary,
all new officers shall be declared elected subsequent to canvass of elections returns on the first day
after the runoff election, at which time the new officers shall be installed and shall enter upon the
discharge of their duties".
If on November 3, 1999, it were to be establish that a runoff election is needed, it is recommended
that the City Commission call for a Special Commission meeting to be held on Wednesday,
November 10, 1999, at noon to canvass the returns of such election, adjourn the canvassing board
for the November 9, 1999 Runoff Election, and install the newly elected Mayor and City
Commissioners, as appropriate.
